Cabinet for batteries charging and storage
Fire-resistant safety cabinet for batteries by Primat is designed for the organized storage and proper, safe charging of lithium-ion batteries.
Increased use of lithium-ion batteries
In everyday life, the use of battery-powered devices is increasing. Lithium-ion batteries can be found in mobile phones, laptops, tablets, music players, cameras, toys, wheelchairs, drones, and similar devices.
There is also a significant concentration and use of lithium-ion batteries in construction, manufacturing companies, workshops, and other craft activities, where the percentage of battery-powered tools used increases each year. Additionally, as battery power increases, the range of larger and more powerful tools expands. It is common practice in companies to charge batteries outside of working hours, meaning batteries are charged without supervision.
Both at home and in professional settings, it is therefore very important to follow the guidelines for proper and safe charging and storage of lithium-ion batteries.
Proper storage and charging of batteries
Storing and charging devices with lithium-ion batteries or lithium-ion batteries themselves requires special care. To prevent potential hazards and damage and to ensure the safe and efficient use of lithium-ion batteries, it is important to follow these guidelines:
- Battery-powered devices or the batteries themselves must be protected from mechanical damage and weather conditions. Store them at room temperature, away from direct sunlight. Do not expose them to moisture, very high, or low temperatures.
- Keep flammable and combustible materials away from them. Remove any objects from the vicinity that could ignite due to overheating.
- Ensure good ventilation during charging. Devices, chargers, or charging stations should not be covered or cluttered with other objects or materials to prevent overheating.
- Designate a safe place for charging lithium-ion batteries. Consider installing a smoke detector in rooms where these devices are charged for additional safety.
- Do not overload power sockets during charging. Ensure the electrical wiring is adequate for charging to avoid overloads and potential fire hazards.
Improper charging (overcharging, using incompatible equipment, ignoring manufacturer instructions), mechanical damage (dropping, impact, crushing, traffic accidents), improper storage (exposure to high or very low temperatures, moisture, etc.), poor-quality materials, and technical malfunctions are the most common causes of fires when handling batteries and battery-powered devices. To prevent this, we recommend using dedicated fire-resistant safety cabinets specifically designed for charging and storing lithium-ion batteries.
Advantages of Primat batteries charging cabinet
- Fire-resistant insulation that prevents the cabinet surface from reaching critical temperatures in the event of spontaneous combustion, which could lead to ignition of nearby objects.
- Automatic disconnection from the electrical network in case of a short circuit.
- Automatic disconnection from the electrical network in case of temperature increase inside the cabinet.
- Temperature monitoring.
- Fire alarm.
- Active fire suppression system inside the cabinet (optional).
- Anti-theft protection to prevent unauthorized access (e.g., when used on open construction sites).
